Die Peaks of the Balkans sind ein bekannter Sommerwanderweg, der nach Berichten in Reiseseiten wie der New York Times, der Financial Times in den USA und Europa sowie der Singapore Times in Asien zu einem beliebten Ziel f\u00fcr viele Wanderer geworden ist. Sobald der Schnee schmilzt \u2013 manchmal sogar schon fr\u00fcher \u2013 und bis die Tage wieder k\u00fcrzer werden, str\u00f6men Wanderer aus aller Welt auf diese Wege. Dennoch stellt sich immer die Frage: Wie sieht es mit den Peaks of the Balkans im Winter aus?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Der Peaks of the Balkans Trail stellt in der Wintersaison eine besonders herausfordernde Unternehmung dar. Die rauen winterlichen Wetterbedingungen in diesen abgelegenen Bergen, die sich zwischen 1.000 und 2.600 Metern H\u00f6he erstrecken, stellen die erste Schwierigkeit dar. Hinzu kommt, dass die Gasth\u00e4user in diesen Gebieten aufgrund geringen Interesses und der Schwierigkeit, ohne Winterinfrastruktur betrieben zu werden, geschlossen sind, was die Herausforderung zus\u00e4tzlich erh\u00f6ht.<\/p>\n

Zudem k\u00f6nnen die Trailabschnitte von 12 bis 20 km, die \u00fcber unwegsames Gel\u00e4nde f\u00fchren, Lawinenrisiken bergen. Hinzu kommt, dass einige dieser Strecken aus dieser Perspektive bislang nie analysiert wurden. Der fehlende Telefonempfang erschwert die Bew\u00e4ltigung des 192 km langen Trails zus\u00e4tzlich.<\/p>\n

Dies waren in der Vergangenheit Hindernisse, und die meisten bestehen auch heute noch, doch seit 2019, als wir den ersten Beitrag zu diesem Thema in diesem Blog ver\u00f6ffentlicht haben, hat sich einiges ge\u00e4ndert.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Was ist im Winter 2023 und dar\u00fcber hinaus machbar?<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ski-Enthusiasten, abenteuerlustige Unternehmer und Bergsteiger haben einige Abschnitte erkundet und im Winter begehbar, besuchbar und sogar befahrbar gemacht. Die Trails und Abschnitte werden bei Interessierten zunehmend beliebter. Xavier Carrard von der Schweizer Bergsteiger-Kooperative Helyum<\/a> und Shams Eybert-Berard<\/a>, ein franz\u00f6sischer Guide aus Grenoble, sind bereits einige Teile des Trails Ski gefahren. Das Guesthouse Leonardi hat einige Zimmer winterfest gemacht, w\u00e4hrend das Guesthouse Gacaferri begonnen hat, sich auf Wintertouren zu spezialisieren.<\/p>\n

Das lokale Unternehmen Balkan Natural Adventure, ein f\u00fchrender Anbieter f\u00fcr Skitouren auf dem Balkan, hat bereits einige Trails f\u00fcr seine Kunden organisiert.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Es gibt keinen festgelegten Trail, da Skifahrer derzeit die besten Schneebereiche erkunden. Abschnitte mit dem gr\u00f6\u00dften Potenzial befinden sich jedoch in der N\u00e4he der Grenzgebiete zwischen den Bergen Decani und Peja (Kosovo), Babino Polje und Bogicevica (Montenegro) sowie den T\u00e4lern Doberdol und Sylbica (Albanien). Diese Abschnitte des Peaks of the Balkans Trails bieten lange, moderate H\u00e4nge, die mit Schnee bedeckt sind, der bis Anfang Mai liegen bleibt. Mit den Bedingungen kommt auch das Angebot: Es sind die Gasth\u00e4user in diesen Gebieten, die Unterk\u00fcnfte im Winter anbieten.<\/p>\n

Der Unterschied zu 2019, als wir den ersten Versuch dieses m\u00f6glichen Wintertrails unternahmen, war enorm: Doberdol war undenkbar, da die Gasth\u00e4user nicht winterfest waren, und das Guesthouse Gacaferri existierte noch nicht.\u00a0<\/p>\n

F\u00fcr Naturabenteurer bieten die Jahre 2024 und 2025 die besten M\u00f6glichkeiten, etwas Einzigartiges zu erleben. Etwas sp\u00e4ter k\u00f6nnte ebenfalls funktionieren; jedoch, bei einem j\u00e4hrlichen Wachstum des Tourismus von etwa 10 Prozent, sollten Sie schnell handeln, wenn Sie die Wildnis bevorzugen.
